On October 10,2009 high school students from NYC were given the chance to learn about Fabrica Social’s work through a talk given by Nadia Williams (Fabrica Social collaborator and Parsons Pre-College Scholarship Coordinator).

As this group of students is preparing to be the next generation of influential designers and artists, we discussed issues such as the value of traditional artisan techniques, meaningful and responsible collaborations and the impact we all have on the world as designers.

Chicago meets Fabrica Social!

On June 20th, 2oo9, the US supporters of Semillas (Mexico City-based nonprofit women’s fund) organized a benefit event to support Semillas’ support of artisan groups.  Semillas has been a key supporter of Fabrica Social projects from the start, so it was great to meet their counterparts in the US (all very inspiring women).

At this event, we organized a sale of the artisans’ designs, which were a big success with the events’ atendees!  Josefina Jimenez, Teotitlan del Valle artisan/designer, was in attendance to share her experiences as a collaborating artisan along with the support of Marcela Salazar of Semillas and Fabrica Social’s Nadia Williams.
